Idria is Australia's leading expert in simulation design, training and development. We help our clients grow and innovate – just as we have over the past thirty years.
The seeds for Idria were planted in 1979 when John Abbott founded Abbott Training Systems (ATS). The small family consulting practice, later including John's wife Lynne and daughter Kristi, quickly grew and was soon known for its professional development workshops and business training. ATS helped businesses excel using simulation training as a key to accelerate skill development and knowledge retention.
Abbott Training Systems practised what it preached. Innovation and a constant drive to improve saw the launch of a new online business, SimSkill, in 2009. SimSkill quickly became a market leader in the e-training space, attracting major national and international clients looking for world class online training in the areas of leadership, project management and corporate training. The business was seen as a ground breaker, leveraging technology to teach complex skills through “learn by doing” and consequential learning methodology.
The business also attracted the interest of one of Australia's leading management training providers, the Australian Institute of Management Victoria & Tasmania (AIM VT). AIM VT purchased both SimSkill and Abbott Training Systems in 2010, and in early 2011 consolidated the two businesses as Idria.
Today, Idria is on the cutting edge of soft skills training, introducing some of the most comprehensive business development training simulations in the world.
